Eight Women. Eight Canvases. Eight Unique Expressions.

Our September Creative Pause gathering, Whimsical Selfie, was an afternoon dedicated to self-expression, connection, and the simple joy of creating.

We began by slowing down, setting aside the demands of everyday life, and giving ourselves permission to explore. With inspiration from artists who embraced individuality and unconventional portraits, we approached our canvases with curiosity rather than expectations.

The invitation was simple: create a self-portrait that reflects how you see yourself, how you feel, or perhaps a side of yourself you don't often express.

There were no rules about getting it right. No expectations of perfection.

And that was where the magic happened.

As colors filled the canvases, each painting began to reveal its own personality. Some were playful, some bold, some whimsical, and all were wonderfully different.

Around the table, conversations flowed, laughter was shared, and creativity brought us together.

By the end of the afternoon, eight unique portraits stood side by side. Each was a beautiful reminder that, given the same invitation, we all have something different to express.

That is what Creative Pause is all about.

Not learning to paint perfectly. Not creating something that looks like everyone else's.

But making time for ourselves, exploring without judgment, and discovering the joy of creating in the company of others.
