Inspiration - September's Creative Pause

Our next Creative Pause is coming, and this time we are turning the canvas toward ourselves.

The theme for our September gathering is Whimsical Selfie.

But don't worry—this isn't about creating a perfect portrait or making something that looks exactly like you. In fact, I hope we do just the opposite.

What if your self-portrait could be playful, exaggerated, colorful, unexpected… even a little strange?

Maybe your hair becomes a garden of flowers. Maybe you are wearing enormous glasses filled with another world. Maybe your face is made of shapes, patterns, words, or colors that somehow feel like you.

The inspiration board I created is simply a starting point—a little invitation to let our imaginations wander.

As you look at it, begin thinking about your own whimsical selfie.

What colors feel like you right now?
What would you exaggerate?
What could you add that tells a little piece of your story?
And if your portrait didn't have to look like you… how could it feel like you?

As always, Creative Pause isn't about knowing how to paint or creating something “perfect.” It's about giving ourselves permission to slow down, experiment, play, and see what happens when we create without expectations.
